Otters in Space

Otters in Space, by Mary E. Lowd, is a series about...otters in space, among other things and some of the cover art is kind of nice...That is if it’s not stolen by AI.

You see, Mary E. Lowd is an AI “artist” and proud of it too. With posts on Blue Sky such as “God it’s nice to finally take the leash off, accept that the AI-haters gonna hate, and just have fun.” - Dec 16th, 2023, 10:53AM

“It really astounds me the complexity that DALLE3 is capable of… I dropped a 6k-word story into ChatGPT, asking for an illustration that captures its heart. Boom. Amazing. Of course, then I asked for a quote from the story to accompany it and got a hallucination… but still.” - December 16th, 2023, 10:01AM
“The absolute explosion of AI art positivity over on Threads this week has been amazing. If you love AI, that’s THE place to be this week.” - December 16th, 2023, 6:57AM

There’s no mistaking the fact she loves AI and uses it for her work. Now not every book with a cover art was created by AI, but if an author sells one book with AI art, then every book gets thrown into question.

There’s no denying the fact she uses AI to create art, she says it herself, what about her writings? Sadly it’s hard to figure out if written text was created using AI or not, but if Mary is willing to use AI to create “art” then what’s to say she’ll only stop at art?

The point is, this author uses AI, stolen artwork and is making money off of it. Please don’t support AI theft, just put this author in your list of do not reads, spread the word and move on. That’s all we can do sometimes.
